Waterless Wednesday – 3/7/2018
#1 Meatless Mondays! – A single serving of poultry takes about 90 gallons of water to produce! Choose one day a week to not eat meat and you’ll save a whole bunch of water and feel healthier too!
#2 Limit your car washing – As the warmer months come around, washing your car is probably at the top of your to-do list. Unfortunately, this uses about 150 gallons of water each time so cutting back on the number of times you wash your car can have a big impact!
#3 Be more efficient when running errands! – One gallon of gas takes about 13 gallons of water to produce. Combining all your errands into one trip will allow you to save water, gas AND money.
#4 Be careful when shopping – A single pound of cotton takes about 100 gallons of water to grow and process. This cotton is then used for t-shirts, dresses and more. Stay conservative and think about the water you can save by NOT buying that new shirt!
#5 Recycle, Recycle, Recycle – Recycling a pound of paper can save nearly 3.5 gallons of water. Combine this with recycling your water bottles and other scraps and you have yourself a water saving marathon!
