Waterless Wednesday – 2/21/2018
Welcome to our third Waterless Wednesday! This week’s tips include ways you can conserve water when dealing with food. Make sure you are sharing these tips with friends, family and co-workers to spread the water savings!
#1 Composting food waste – Constantly using a garbage disposal for fruit & vegetable scraps wastes TONS of water. Instead, begin composting these items; it’s good for the Earth and your wallet!
#2 Taking a bath? – Plug the bathtub before turning on the water and adjust the temperature as it fills. You’ll enjoy your bath even more thinking about all the water you saved!
#3 Reuse your towels – At home or even staying at a hotel, reuse your towels at least once. This will save gallons of water by eliminating the amount of laundry you have to do.
#4 Fill a pan for washing fruits or vegetables – Fill a pan with water instead of leaving the faucet running while washing your healthy snacks. This will cut down on water usage and ensure you are cleaning your fruits and vegetables thoroughly!
#5 Run a full dishwasher – Make sure you only run your dishwasher when it is full. Doing so will limit the amount of loads you will have to do and can save up to 1,000 gallons per month!
